Medium was the door. The workshop was behind it.

Week 1 of my public experiment

I thought the public story would begin with a few articles. In reality, underneath it was already the question of how value, participation, focus and the ability to work hold together when the old consulting drawer becomes too narrow.

1 · What I expected

  • Finish the Medium series as the visible opening.
  • Mark The Existonomist as the public starting line and separate it from Existonomy as a term.
  • Sort the other topics later, once the site is in place.

2 · What really happened

  • Medium gave me an entrance, but not the content of the whole week.
  • The question of fair participation came in through a podcast moment with Simplicissimus; Misthos suddenly had a very practical answer to it.
  • My Fokusgarten became a concrete application: Francois is developing the venture, I am a small partner, and I am testing on myself what the idea changes in my working reality.

3 · What this week did to me

The tidy beginning was too small

From the outside it looked like Medium. A few articles, a date, a public start. Nicely orderly. Almost too orderly. Because beneath this starting line there was already the material from which The Existonomist can even emerge: conversations, irritations, venture ideas and the question of how work continues under new conditions.

The uncomfortable moment in the podcast

In the Deutschland 3000 episode with Simplicissimus, this question of participation was suddenly in the room: if I take value from somewhere else, but there is no way there to give money back, how do I still create a fair distribution of my commercial success with my sources? For Jonas and Eva, something uncomfortable hovered there for a moment. Exactly there, Misthos stopped being something I want to sell. It became an answer.

My Fokusgarten became a survival form

The Fokusgarten is a venture by Francois. Not mine. I am a small partner, advisor and very curious user. For me, it replaces part of what professional work used to be: not more planning, but another view of progress. Planning is good. But instead of feeling bad when I deviate from the plan, the Fokusgarten shows me where I still moved forward. Sometimes precisely because of that. Progress is always happening. With the Fokusgarten, my own plan loses a piece of its guilty conscience.

4 · What I take from it

  1. Medium was the entrance, not the house.
  2. Misthos belongs in the weekly line because it makes the participation question practical.
  3. My Fokusgarten helps me see progress even when the plan was left lying to the side.

Difference

Expected was an arc of articles. What became visible was a workshop where podcast, Misthos and Fokusgarten were pulling on the same question: how does value contribution stay fair and visible?

Outlook

Next week wants to show whether tools merely create organization or whether they help make value contribution possible again.

Next hypothesis

The Existonomist becomes interesting when a week does not pretend to be neat, but honestly shows which work is fighting for attention.
